A riot control mock drill was conducted at Mumbai's Bandra Railway Terminus on Thursday between 2 pm and 4 pm to assess security readiness for Ganeshotsav and Eid-e-Milad. The exercise simulated an altercation between two passenger groups in the ticket booking hall, escalating into a crowd disturbance. Following Standard Operating Procedures, local police initially monitored the situation before deploying a riot control platoon to restore order. The drill involved 24 Government Railway Police personnel, including officers and Home Guards, 14 Railway Protection Force members, local police staff, and a mobile response van unit. After controlling the disturbance, security forces conducted a route march covering platforms, the booking office, and footbridges. Officials stated the drill aimed to demonstrate preparedness and boost passenger confidence during the festive season. Authorities emphasized that such exercises are routine during high footfall periods to ensure swift responses to emergencies and urged public vigilance and cooperation to maintain safety and order during celebrations.
