RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Urges Indian Families To Have Three Children

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has urged every Indian family to have at least three children to maintain population stability, citing India's population policy recommending a fertility rate of 2.1, which he interprets as three children per family. Speaking at a training camp in Nagpur on August 28, 2025, Bhagwat emphasized that having three children ensures health benefits for parents and children and helps in managing family dynamics. He noted concerns over declining birth rates across all communities, particularly among Hindus, and stressed the need to balance population growth to avoid future demographic challenges. Bhagwat highlighted that population can be both a boon and a burden, underscoring the importance of controlled growth for proper upbringing. His remarks come amid India's demographic transition, with recent surveys indicating a total fertility rate around 2.0, below the replacement level. Bhagwat also mentioned that population imbalance is a concern and linked it to factors such as conversion. He called for acceptance of the three-child norm to ensure societal balance and future stability. (Updated 29 Aug 2025, 10:58 IST; source: link)
