Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for a four-day visit to Japan and China aimed at advancing India's national interests and regional cooperation. From August 29-30, he will attend the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit in Tokyo at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, focusing on enhancing the Special Strategic and Global Partnership, expanding economic and technological cooperation including AI and semiconductors, and strengthening cultural ties. Following Japan, Modi will travel to Tianjin, China, from August 31 to September 1 to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. India, an active SCO member since 2017, has initiated new projects in innovation, health, and cultural exchanges during its presidency. Modi expressed confidence that the visits will promote regional and global peace, security, and sustainable development.
