Farmers in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, are set to protest against MPIDC executive director Rajesh Rathore's statement claiming landowners support the special compensation package linked to Vikram Udyogpuri Phase-II land acquisition. Farmers dispute this, citing records showing 96% objections to the acquisition process, which were dismissed, followed by nearly 90% filing petitions in the High Court challenging the acquisition as unlawful. Interim stay orders are in place. After a ten-day sit-in, farmers submitted a memorandum on July 9 detailing their demands and compensation rates, which they say the announced package does not meet. Despite ongoing opposition, officials continue to issue statements described by farmers as false and misleading. Approximately 200 farmers will gather at the Collectorate to submit a memorandum and formally register their dissent at 2 pm on Thursday. (Updated 28 Aug 2025, 01:46 IST; source: link)
