NTR district in Andhra Pradesh set a new world record by preparing 7,730 eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols, surpassing Maharashtra's previous record of 4,464. The event was organized jointly by the district administration, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, and Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board to promote environmental awareness during Ganesh Chaturthi. The World Book of Records (London) officially recognized the achievement, with Dr. U. Elijah presenting the certificate and medal to district collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha. The initiative involved nearly 20 schools, colleges, and associations, with support from government officials including Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar Yadav, who highlighted the link between cultural traditions and environmental responsibility. The event avoided harmful materials like Plaster of Paris and chemical colors. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath and MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao urged continued eco-friendly practices in future celebrations. AP Pollution Control Board chairman P. Krishnayya emphasized collective efforts to reduce pollution and protect the Krishna River. Vijayawada police commissioner S.V. Rajashekhar Babu called for adherence to noise regulations during festivities.
