Shivamogga Airport Marks Two Years, Set for 24-Hour Operations

Shivamogga Airport in Karnataka, operated by the state government through KSIIDC, completed two years of operations and is being upgraded for round-the-clock flights. Minister M.B. Patil announced the installation of modern navigational aids to enable safe night and adverse weather operations. Since opening, the airport has handled 2,400 flights and over 100,000 passengers, with IndiGo operating 670 flights carrying 31,500 passengers, Star Air 1,200 flights with 47,000 passengers, and SpiceJet 530 flights transporting 25,000 passengers. The airport has rapidly expanded connectivity under the RCS-UDAN scheme, linking destinations including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Tirupati, and Goa.
