Union Ministers Rao Inderjit Singh and Harsh Malhotra will lay the foundation for a Rs 282 crore infrastructure project on the Gurugram–Jaipur stretch of National Highway-48 (formerly NH-8). The initiative includes four new flyovers at Pachgaon Chowk, Rathiwas, near Hero Company in Dharuhera, and Sahalawas to ease traffic congestion. The project also involves upgrading a 58.8 km stretch with 2.26 km of new service roads, 7.2 km of Pavement Quality Concrete roads, and reinforcement of nearly 31 km of existing carriageways. To address waterlogging, 18.05 km of RCC drains will be constructed, and 40.64 km of open drains will be covered and strengthened. Safety improvements include 32 new entry and exit points, 2,475 signboards, 800 delineators, about 30,000 road studs, 34 traffic impact attenuators, and three high-mast lights. Additionally, nine foot overbridges with ramps and stairways will be built at various locations to aid pedestrians, including senior citizens and differently-abled individuals. The project also plans to plant 15,000 trees along the corridor and install rainwater harvesting structures every 500 meters to recharge groundwater. The foundation ceremony will take place at Apparel House in Sector 44, Gurugram. (Updated 26 Aug 2025, 16:59 IST; source: link)
