OpenAI announced it will acquire product testing startup Statsig in an all-stock transaction valuing the company at approximately $1.1 billion, based on OpenAI's current $300 billion valuation. As part of the deal, Statsig CEO Vijaye Raji will join OpenAI as the chief technology officer of applications, overseeing product engineering for ChatGPT, Codex, and related systems. Statsig, which raised $100 million earlier this year, develops tools to help software developers test and flag new features. Following the acquisition, Statsig employees will continue to operate independently from their Seattle office. This move follows OpenAI's recent $6.5 billion acquisition of io Products, a startup founded by former iPhone designer Jony Ive, aimed at advancing AI hardware. OpenAI's revenue doubled in the first seven months of 2025, reaching an annualized run rate of $12 billion and is projected to hit $20 billion by year-end. The company is also working to close a tender offer round for employee liquidity at a $500 billion valuation. (Updated 3 Sep 2025, 09:42 IST; source: link)
