Version1 Player Zellsis Banned From VCT For “Inappropriate” Remarks Against Referee

Version1 VALORANT player Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro has been suspended from Open Qualifier and the main event of the Challengers One of the third phase of the VCT.

June 11 Riot Games announced that Zellsis violated rule 7.1.2 of the Global Competition Policy, in which players “observe the highest of standards of personal integrity and sportsmanship at all times.” According to the announcement, Zellsis “made an offensive and discriminatory comment about a referee” during the check in Friday, May 28 at the Masters from Reykjavik.

Version1 and Zellsis have not said anything against the decision, both the organization and Zellsis himself have responded via Twitter lamenting the incident and apologizing to the staff by Riot. They both accept Riot’s decision and V1 will play the Challengers One with a substitute. The regulations ensure that any future violation may result in a longer suspension, a reduction in the award or fewer points within the VCT. Zellsis has apologized to staff from Riot and his teammates personally on Twitter.

V1 has already competed in Reykjavik with a replacement, as Jamal “jammyz” Bangash played in the place of Maxim “wippie” Shepelv, who was unable to travel to the event. There is still no confirmation of whether Jammyz will be the replacement again or if they will find another player for it.
