The Union Cabinet has approved the release of an additional installment of Dearness Allowance to the Central Government. According to the information, the cabinet has decided to increase the dearness allowance (DA Arrear) of government employees by four percent. This decision has been taken after the meeting of the Union Cabinet held on Thursday evening.

According to the government, the cabinet on Thursday approved the release of additional installment of Dearness Allowance to central government employees and dearness relief to pensioners from January 1, 2023! This will benefit 47.58 lakh employees and 69.76 lakh pensioners. After this increase, now dearness allowance (DA Arrear) has increased to 42 percent.
Enhanced DA Arrear will be applicable from this date
It may be noted that according to the figures of AICPI-IW, dearness allowance is given to the employees by adding or deducting Dearness Allowance. It is revised every six months! Now that the Central Government has announced a 4 percent increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA Arrear) for the month of January! In such a situation, this allowance will be applicable only from January 1, 2023! In such a situation, the central employees will also get arrears of two months. It is being said that this will also be paid along with the March salary.
Salary will increase by 4 percent in Dearness Allowance
- If the basic salary of an employee is 18 thousand rupees! So according to 42% Dearness Allowance, his salary will increase by about Rs 720 every month. According to 38 percent, DA used to be Rs 6840! Now according to 42 percent it will be Rs.7560. That is, after DA Arrear, his salary will increase by Rs 720!
- If the basic salary of the employee is 25 thousand rupees, then he will get the benefit of 1000 rupees per month. According to 38 percent, his DA used to be Rs.9500. Now according to 42 percent, this amount will be Rs.10500. That is, after increasing the rate of DA, there will be an increase of Rs 1000 in his salary.
- An employee whose basic salary is Rs 35,000 will get Rs 1,400 more per month! According to 38 percent, he used to get Rs 13300 DA, now according to 42 percent this amount will be Rs 14700! That is, after increasing the rate of DA, his salary will increase by Rs 1400.
- An employee with a basic salary of Rs 45,000 will get an increase of around Rs 1,800. At present, DA is Rs 17100 at the rate of 38 per cent. According to 42 percent, it will be Rs 18900! At the rate of DA, his salary will increase by Rs 1800.
How is DA Arrear determined?
Dearness Allowance (DA Arrear) is a part of salary. It is a fixed percentage of the basic salary of the employee. To reduce the effect of inflation, the government gives dearness allowance to its employees. It is extended from time to time. The government fixes dearness allowance on the basis of the All India Consumer Price Index, considering the inflation rate as the basis. Earlier, the central government had increased the dearness allowance of the employees on 28 September 2022! Dearness Allowance is reviewed twice a year. This review happens in January and July!
