UP Nishad Party Chief Challenges BJP Over AllianceSaralnama

On 26 Aug 2025, Sanjay Nishad, UP Fisheries Minister and Nishad Party chief, said in Gorakhpur that if BJP sees no benefit in the alliance, it should end it. This came after NDA allies met in Delhi without BJP on Nishad Party’s foundation day. Nishad criticized BJP leaders for attacking his party and called for reservation for their communities. BJP state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary and general secretary Dharampal Singh contacted Nishad to resolve differences. Nishad warned BJP about ‘imported leaders’ harming the alliance and said BJP leaders from Nishad community were targeting his party unfairly. Nishad Party represents riverine fisherfolk and has influence in over 150 UP assembly seats. Nishad met UP Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak on 28 Aug 2025, showing a more reconciliatory tone. BJP said these are minor issues and respects coalition dharma. The tension highlights challenges in BJP’s relations with smaller allies ahead of 2027 polls.
