On 27 Aug 2025, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray visited his cousin Raj Thackeray, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief, at his Mumbai home for Ganesh Chaturthi prayers. Uddhav came with his wife Rashmi and son Aaditya. This was their first meeting at Raj's residence in over 20 years since Raj left Shiv Sena in 2005. The families offered prayers together, showing signs of improved relations before the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections. The cousins have met publicly several times recently, including a joint event in July opposing Hindi imposition in schools.
