BJP, RSS Discuss Key Appointments in Delhi Ahead of Modi's Visit
Saralnama

BJP and RSS leaders are discussing important appointments in Delhi from August 26 to 28. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is in the capital for the Sangh's centenary event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for a four-day overseas trip on August 29. They may meet before Modi's trip to decide on changes in the Union Cabinet and BJP leadership. The party plans to appoint a new BJP national president and make changes at Raj Bhavans. The BJP president can only be elected after 19 state chiefs are chosen, but states like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat are delayed due to internal conflicts. Modi returns by September 1-2, before the inauspicious pitra paksh period begins, when parties avoid new appointments. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who met Bhagwat recently, did not comment on becoming BJP president. The party aims to complete decisions before pitra paksh or wait for the auspicious Navratra period after September 22. (Updated 27 Aug 2025, 06:15 IST; source: link)
