Indian Railways will operate a record 380 Ganpati Special train trips in 2025, the highest number ever, to facilitate smooth travel during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival from August 27 to September 6. Central Railway will run the majority with 296 services, primarily serving Maharashtra and the Konkan region. Western Railway will operate 56 trips, South Western Railway 22, and Konkan Railway 6. Special train services began on August 11 and will increase as the festival approaches. Konkan Railway trains will halt at numerous stations including Ratnagiri, Chiplun, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim, Madgaon, Karwar, Udupi, and Surathkal. This initiative follows an increase from 305 trips in 2023 and 358 in 2024, reflecting Indian Railways’ commitment to managing the high passenger demand during the festive season.
