The Rashtriya Lok Morcha, a Bihar ally of the BJP, is facing internal turmoil after seven senior leaders resigned from their positions. The resignations came after party chief Upendra Kushwaha selected his son, Deepak Prakash, for a ministerial post despite him being neither an MLA nor an MLC. The departing leaders accused Kushwaha of promoting dynastic politics and favouring his family over elected representatives. The RLM had won four out of six seats it contested in the recent Bihar Assembly elections as part of the NDA alliance and received one ministerial berth. The controversy has exposed tensions within the party, with former officials claiming that Kushwaha has abandoned socialist values. The resignations include the state president, multiple general secretaries, and a district president, marking a significant blow to the party's organizational structure.

Leaders Quit Over Nepotism Allegations
Former RLM number two Jitendra Nath, who had been with Kushwaha for nine years, resigned along with six other key leaders. State president Mahendra Kushwaha, state general secretary Rahul Kumar, and general secretaries from Nalanda, Jamui, and Lakhisarai districts also quit. Shekhpura district president Pappu Mandal joined the exodus. They criticized Upendra Kushwaha for abandoning socialist ideology and promoting his family instead of recognizing party workers. Mahendra Kushwaha called him a fallen pillar of socialist politics, while Rahul Kumar said the party leader had trapped himself in dynastic politics. Currently, Upendra Kushwaha serves as a Rajya Sabha MP, his wife Snehlata Kushwaha represents Sasaram as an MLA, and his non-legislator son holds a ministerial position.
