The Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), a Bihar ally of the BJP, is facing internal turmoil after seven senior leaders resigned on November 27, 2025. The exodus follows party chief Upendra Kushwaha's decision to appoint his son, Deepak Prakash, as a minister despite Prakash being neither an MLA nor an MLC. The RLM had won four of the six seats it contested in the recent Bihar Assembly polls as part of the NDA coalition, which secured 202 of 243 seats. The resigning leaders accused Kushwaha of abandoning socialist principles and promoting dynastic politics. Notable resignations include party number two Jitendra Nath, state president Mahendra Kushwaha, and several general secretaries. Critics pointed out that Upendra Kushwaha is a Rajya Sabha MP, his wife Snehlata is Sasaram MLA, and now his son holds a ministerial position, raising concerns about family favouritism within the party.

Leaders Accuse Chief of Family Favouritism and Ideological Drift
Jitendra Nath, who served as the RLM's official number two for nine years, resigned citing blatant favouritism. He claimed Kushwaha had become desperate to promote his family after failing to secure seats in the 2020 Assembly polls. Nath had hoped for a ticket from Shekhpura, which went to the JD(U) instead. State president Mahendra Kushwaha called Upendra a "fallen pillar of socialist politics" who forgot core socialist ideology despite speaking of moral values. Spokesperson Rahul Kumar described the situation as dynastic politics, stating simple workers had no place in the RLM. Other resignations included general secretaries overseeing Nalanda, Jamui, and Lakhisarai districts, alongside Shekhpura district president Pappu Mandal.
