Senior Leaders Resign Over Nepotism Allegations

2 min read

The Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), an ally of the BJP in Bihar, is facing internal turmoil after seven senior leaders resigned from the party. The resignations follow RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha's decision to appoint his son, Deepak Prakash, as a minister despite him being neither an MLA nor an MLC. The party had won four out of six seats in the recent Bihar Assembly elections as part of the NDA alliance, which secured 202 of 243 seats overall. Critics within the party accuse Kushwaha of abandoning socialist principles and promoting dynastic politics. Among those who quit are state president Mahendra Kushwaha and official number two Jitendra Nath, who have openly criticized the move as blatant favoritism. The controversy has raised questions about the party's commitment to its core ideology and treatment of dedicated workers.

Senior Leaders Resign Over Nepotism Allegations

Seven prominent RLM leaders have resigned, accusing Upendra Kushwaha of prioritizing family over party workers. Former official number two Jitendra Nath, who worked with Kushwaha for nine years, criticized the decision to make Deepak Prakash a minister. Other resignations include state president Mahendra Kushwaha, state general secretary Rahul Kumar, and district-level leaders from Nalanda, Jamui, Lakhisarai, and Shekhpura. They described the move as dynastic politics and a betrayal of socialist values. Currently, Upendra Kushwaha serves as a Rajya Sabha MP, his wife Snehlata Kushwaha is the Sasaram MLA, and now his son holds a ministerial position despite lacking legislative experience. Critics say this favoritism leaves no space for ordinary party workers.
