The National Democratic Alliance achieved a commanding victory in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, securing leads in 203 seats after extensive vote counting. The Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the largest partner with 92 seats, while Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) followed closely with 83 seats. Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) contributed significantly with 19 leads, demonstrating a strong strike rate. The opposition Mahagathbandhan faced a severe setback, reduced to approximately 40 seats overall. The Rashtriya Janata Dal managed only 26 seats, while the Congress party was limited to just 5 seats. This decisive mandate reinforces the ruling alliance's dominance in Bihar politics. Nitish Kumar's continued influence and Chirag Paswan's impressive performance have reshaped the state's political landscape, highlighting effective social coalition-building and strategic alliances within the NDA framework.

Nitish Kumar's Enduring Political Influence in Bihar

Nitish Kumar remains a dominant figure in Bihar politics through strategic social engineering and broad-based support. His ability to unite Extremely Backward Classes, Mahadalits, and non-Yadav Other Backward Classes has proven crucial across multiple elections. Women voters have consistently supported him for two decades, forming a loyal base. Remarkably, his party ranked first in 2010, second in 2015, and third in 2020, yet he became Chief Minister each time. The JD(U)'s strong performance in 2025 reinforces his central role. Regardless of shifting seat numbers, Nitish consistently holds the keys to power formation, making him an indispensable force in state politics.
