As Bihar Assembly election results arrive on Friday, attention will focus on how political alliances perform across five distinct regions: Tirhut, Mithilanchal and Kosi, Saran, Seemanchal, and Shahabad. Each zone has unique demographic and political characteristics that shape electoral outcomes. Seemanchal, with its Muslim-dominated districts, is likely to favor the Mahagathbandhan. Shahabad had previously disrupted NDA's expectations in 2020 by unexpectedly turning away from the alliance. Tirhut, the largest region with 49 Assembly seats, has traditionally leaned toward the NDA, especially in the Champaran districts. Mithilanchal and Kosi, with 40 seats, see strong RJD support among Muslims and Yadavs. Saran's 24 seats remain a tight battleground, while Shahabad's 22 seats could witness changed dynamics with Chirag Paswan's LJP (RV) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha now part of the NDA coalition.

Regional Dynamics Shape Bihar's Electoral Outcome
The five regions display contrasting political loyalties. Tirhut, covering Muzaffarpur, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Vaishali, East Champaran, and West Champaran, comprises 49 seats. The Champaran belt has consistently backed the NDA due to improved law and order under Nitish Kumar's government. Mithilanchal and Kosi, with districts like Darbhanga, Madhubani, Samastipur, Supaul, Saharsa, and Madhepura, have 40 seats where Muslims and Yadavs traditionally support the RJD. Saran, including Saran, Gopalganj, and Siwan districts, holds 24 seats and remains closely contested. Seemanchal, with Purnia, Katihar, Araria, and Kishanganj, has 20 seats and significant Muslim populations. Shahabad, covering Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur, and Buxar, includes 22 seats where the Mahagathbandhan won 20 seats in 2020, though this time the NDA is more unified.
