Actor-turned-politician Vijay has firmly rejected all alliance offers and confirmed his party will contest independently in the upcoming state elections. Nearly a month after the September 27 stampede in Karur that killed 41 supporters, Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam held an executive committee meeting on Wednesday. The party announced the formation of a 28-member executive committee and scheduled a special general council meeting for November 5 in Mamallapuram, where Vijay will make his first public appearance since the tragedy. During his month-long absence from public life, both BJP and AIADMK leaders openly courted him, suggesting alliances, while the DMK invited TVK to a joint protest meeting. However, TVK leaders reiterated their unchanged position: they will align with neither the BJP nor the DMK, and will project Vijay as their chief ministerial candidate for the expected 2026 state elections.

Vijay Rejects Alliance Offers, Chooses Independent Path
After weeks of political silence following the Karur tragedy, Vijay's party clearly stated it will not join any alliance. Senior TVK leaders meeting at the Panaiyur headquarters emphasized their stand remains firm against both BJP and DMK partnerships. This decision came despite persistent overtures from various parties during his absence. BJP and AIADMK figures suggested he needed their support to move forward, while the DMK invited TVK to an all-party meeting on November 2 regarding voter roll revisions. Party general secretary K G Arunraj explained that campaign activities will resume once the state government establishes proper Standard Operating Procedures for political gatherings, ensuring public safety and maximum outreach.
