UP Governor Anandiben Patel Urges 75% Attendance in Schools and Colleges

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on 25 Aug 2025 called for making 75% attendance compulsory in schools, colleges, and universities. She spoke at the 44th convocation of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University at Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium. The rule aims to ensure students attend lectures, use labs and libraries, and benefit fully from education. The UP Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad had already made 75% attendance mandatory for class 10 and 12 board exams in 2017. Patel also stressed the importance of research that solves social problems. She urged universities to use government research grants for projects that help society and share results with officials for action. As Chancellor of state universities, she encouraged stronger ties with foreign universities and welcomed foreign students warmly.
