Delhi-NCR schools have been instructed to switch to hybrid mode for students studying up to Class 5 following a sharp decline in air quality. The Directorate of Education, Delhi, issued the directive with immediate effect, asking all government, government-aided, and unaided recognized private schools under DoE, NDMC, MCD, and Delhi Cantonment Board to conduct both physical and online classes wherever feasible. This measure comes as pollution levels in the capital remain in the 'very poor' category. The MCD has ramped up anti-pollution efforts, deploying anti-smog guns and mechanical sweepers while enforcing stricter penalties on violators. Additionally, the Delhi government has expanded the Ujjwala Yojana to slum clusters to curb pollution from traditional cooking methods. A citywide survey by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board is underway to identify families still using polluting fuels.

Schools Shift to Hybrid Classes Amid Pollution Crisis
The Directorate of Education has directed all schools in the Delhi-NCR region to adopt a hybrid teaching model for students up to Class 5. The order applies to government, government-aided, and unaided recognized private schools under DoE, NDMC, MCD, and Delhi Cantonment Board. Schools must conduct classes in both physical and online modes wherever online teaching is feasible. The decision was taken immediately after air quality deteriorated significantly. The official notice emphasized that the hybrid mode will remain in effect until further orders. The step aims to protect young children from exposure to harmful air pollutants while ensuring continuity in their education during this pollution emergency.
