The West Bengal School Service Commission released results for the State Level Selection Test on Friday, paving the way to fill approximately 13,000 assistant teacher positions in government and government-aided schools for classes 11-12. More than 2.29 lakh candidates appeared for the examination held on September 14. Education Minister Bratya Basu emphasized the transparent conduct of the test and credited Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's initiative for making the recruitment process possible. He stated that new appointments could materialize by December. Qualified candidates will now proceed to interviews assessing their teaching skills, subject expertise, and communication abilities. A final merit list combining scores from both stages will determine successful applicants, who must then complete document verification with original certificates before receiving final appointment letters. Results are accessible on the official WBSSC portal.

Interview and Final Selection Process
Candidates who successfully cleared the State Level Selection Test will advance to the interview stage. This phase evaluates essential teaching competencies including pedagogical skills, subject knowledge, and communication abilities. After interviews conclude, a comprehensive final merit list will be compiled based on combined scores from both the written test and interview performance. Applicants appearing on the merit list must undergo document verification, where they need to present original educational certificates, mark sheets, and valid identity proofs. Only after satisfactory verification will final appointments be confirmed. A senior commission official noted that many untainted candidates are expected to have qualified, though it remains unclear how many among the 26,000 teachers who lost positions following the Supreme Court's April 1 verdict have passed this examination.
