UGC–NET December 2025 update: key points for applicants

The National Testing Agency has started accepting online applications for the UGC NET December 2025 examination. This nationwide test will be held for 85 subjects in Computer-Based Test mode. Candidates have until November 7 to submit their forms. The exam determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship awards, Assistant Professor appointments, and PhD admissions in Indian universities and colleges. UGC NET is held twice annually, in June and December. Applicants must register through the official NTA portal and pay category-specific fees. General category candidates pay ₹1,150, while EWS and OBC-NCL candidates pay ₹600, and SC/ST/PwD/Third gender candidates pay ₹325. Only online applications will be accepted. Candidates should use their own or their parents' email addresses and mobile numbers, as all official communication will be sent electronically. The correction window opens from November 10 to 12.

Key Dates and Application Process

Registration opened on October 7 and closes on November 7 at 11:50 PM. The fee payment deadline is also November 7 at 11:50 PM. Corrections in submitted applications can be made between November 10 and November 12. To apply, candidates must visit the official website ugcnet.nta.nic.in, click on the Application Form link, and select New Registration. Required documents include a scanned passport-size photograph and signature in JPEG format. Candidates must fill details carefully, as no changes are permitted after final submission.
