The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education has announced the results for the Higher Secondary third semester examinations. The board recorded an overall pass percentage of 93.72%. Students can view their scorecards on the official websites wbchse.wb.gov.in and wbresults.nic.in. This is the first time WBCHSE has conducted and declared results under the semester-based examination system for Uchha Madhyamik. Around 6.6 lakh candidates appeared for the tests held between September 8 and 22. Girls made up 56.03% of the total candidates. The examinations were conducted using OMR sheets for the first time under the new format. Two students from Purulia, Pritam Ballav and Aditya Narayan Jana, topped the exam with scores of 98.97%. A total of 69 students secured positions in the top 10 ranks, with only three being girls.

Stream-wise performance and new examination format details
The Science stream recorded the highest pass percentage at 98.80%, followed by Commerce at 94.19% and Arts at 92.54%. Under the revised semester system, semesters one and three include multiple-choice questions aimed at promoting reasoning and analytical thinking. Semesters two and four focus on short answer and development quotient questions to maintain writing skills. Council chairperson Chiranjib Bhattacharya had earlier mentioned that over 38 lakh OMR sheets were being scanned. The 2025 annual system examination, which had been conducted since 1978, concluded in March this year, ending the old format. Last year's HS results were declared on May 7, 2025.
