JEE Mains 2026: Can calculators be used in examination? Here’s what NTA says

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified that calculators will not be allowed in the JEE Mains 2026 examination. The Information Bulletin initially mentioned an onscreen calculator feature during the Computer-Based Test, but NTA confirmed this was a typographic error. The calculator tool is part of the generic testing platform but does not apply to JEE Mains. Candidates cannot use calculators in any form during the exam. NTA has apologized for the confusion and released a revised Information Bulletin on its official website. Meanwhile, registration for JEE Mains 2026 Session 1 started on October 31, 2025, and will continue until November 27, 2025. The examination is scheduled between January 21 and January 30, 2026, and will be conducted in 13 languages including English, Hindi, and several regional languages across various exam cities nationwide.

The calculator option is part of the generic test platform used for other examinations but is not permitted for JEE Mains in any form. NTA acknowledged the typographic error in the initial bulletin and released a revised version on its official website. Candidates are advised to download the updated Information Bulletin to avoid confusion. The agency apologized for any inconvenience caused by the mistake and urged students to refer only to the corrected document for accurate exam guidelines.
