Kozhikode | September 22, 2025 — The Avani Institute of Design has introduced Kerala’s first integrated design program, a five-year dual degree combining B.Des and M.Des, marking a major milestone in design education.
The program aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP), offering flexible entry and exit options. Students can graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in four years or continue to earn a Master’s degree in five years.
With specializations in Product Design and Interior Design, the course blends strong foundational learning with advanced industry-ready skills, ensuring graduates meet the demands of India’s evolving design ecosystem.
“Design must move beyond boundaries,” said Tony Joseph, Chairman and Principal of Avani Institute. He emphasized that the program shapes ideas and solutions that impact society in meaningful ways.
As a not-for-profit institution, Avani has gained credibility for its NEP-compliant and globally aligned curriculum, integrating design and architecture with liberal arts, culture, philosophy, and technology.
The institute’s facilities include modern workshops, labs, on-campus residences, library, dining, and sports amenities, along with experiential learning through international study tours and global faculty interactions.
Faculty members highlighted that the program will produce socially responsible designers, equipped with multidisciplinary skills, cultural values, and real-world applications relevant to future industry challenges.
Approved by the AICTE and affiliated with the University of Calicut, the program adds to Avani’s established Council of Architecture-recognized architecture courses, ensuring strong academic credibility.
The initiative has been widely welcomed by design and academic circles, positioning Avani as a pioneering hub shaping the next generation of design leaders in India.
