Sep 22, 2025, Trichy: Fourteen students from government and aided schools who lost both parents have been selected for free higher education support under the Namma Ooru Palli (NSNOP) scheme.
Students will have their college tuition covered, with some already receiving up to ₹51,700 for their first year. Officials said paperwork for others is underway.
The scheme also invests in school infrastructure, with plans for smart classrooms and improved learning conditions in government schools. Authorities say the program’s goal is to keep vulnerable students from dropping out.
