SCHOOL NOTICE: Good news! The World Food Programme reports that African governments now provide school meals to 20 million more children. Sub-Saharan Africa leads with 87 million children fed in 2024. Ethiopia, Rwanda, Madagascar, and Chad have increased their efforts six-fold. This shift shows less reliance on foreign aid and more focus on children's education and health. Local farmers benefit too. Benin's school meal program added ₹191 crore to the economy in 2024. In Sierra Leone, small farmers produce over 1/3 of school meals. However, children in DRC, Somalia, and South Sudan still need help as donor support decreases.
