New Delhi | October 8, 2025: Hundreds of unemployed Civil Defence Volunteers (CDVs) and bus marshals staged a protest at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday, demanding the Delhi government and BJP leaders fulfil their pre-election employment promises.
The protesters accused the BJP of making false assurances during the elections, claiming that party leaders had promised to restore employment within 60 days of forming the government.
According to the demonstrators, BJP leader Rekha Gupta had assured them that the recruitment process would resume immediately once the new government took charge. Other MPs and local leaders had also pledged regular and permanent jobs while campaigning.
However, despite the government being in place, the protesters said no concrete steps have been taken to address unemployment or begin the promised hiring process.
