The Dr HD Kanga League is a special cricket tournament held in Mumbai since 1948. It is played during the monsoon season on Mumbai’s maidans, making it India’s only cricket league played in the rain. The league was started to help players improve their batting in wet and tough conditions. Famous cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Zaheer Khan have played here. Vithal Patil holds the record for most wickets with 759, while Aditya Tare scored the only double century in 2013. Neil Narvekar made the fastest century in the league, reaching 100 runs in just 29 balls. Recently, Sarfaraz Khan played for Parkophene Cricketers, breaking the trend of fewer top players participating. The league continues to be an important platform for Mumbai’s cricket talent.
