Ravichandran Ashwin retired from the Indian Premier League on 27 Aug 2025. He played 16 seasons and took 187 wickets in 221 matches. Ashwin began and ended his IPL career with Chennai Super Kings, his home team. He thanked the IPL and BCCI for the memories and support. Ashwin’s wife, Prithi Narayanan, hinted at new beginnings, saying she looks forward to seeing him do new things. Ashwin plans to play in other cricket leagues worldwide, including England’s The Hundred. His retirement from IPL allows him to join these leagues, as BCCI rules restrict active Indian players from playing abroad. Ashwin leaves as the fifth-highest wicket-taker in IPL history and a respected spinner in Indian cricket. (Updated 28 Aug 2025, 09:23 IST; source: link)
