The Afghanistan Cricket Board has named John Mooney as the new fielding coach. Mooney is a former Ireland player with experience in three World Cups. He has coached Afghanistan before and worked with other international teams. Australian Nirmalan Thanabalasingam joins as the team’s physiotherapist. Both have started work during the training camp in Abu Dhabi. The team is preparing for the Tri-Nation T20I Series with Pakistan and UAE, and the Asia Cup 2025. Mooney holds coaching certificates from England and has played 91 international matches.
