Ravichandran Ashwin retired from the Indian Premier League on 27 Aug 2025. The 38-year-old off-spinner ended his 16-year IPL career after playing 221 matches and taking 187 wickets. Ashwin began his IPL journey with Chennai Super Kings in 2009 and returned to them in 2025 for ₹9.75 crore. He also played for Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Rising Pune Supergiant. Ashwin retired from international cricket in December 2024. He thanked all IPL teams and the BCCI for their support. Ashwin said he will now explore playing in overseas leagues.
