Vijay Shankar has signed with Tripura for the 2025-26 domestic cricket season. The 34-year-old all-rounder ended his 13-year career with Tamil Nadu. He has played 12 ODIs and 9 T20Is for India. Shankar will join Hanuma Vihari, who also moved to Tripura from Andhra. Together, they aim to strengthen Tripura’s team in all formats. Shankar scored 3,702 runs and took 43 wickets in 70 first-class matches. He helped Tamil Nadu win one-day titles in 2016-17 and a T20 title in 2021-22. Tripura’s coach said Shankar’s move opens chances for younger players in Tamil Nadu. The transfer awaits formal approval from Tripura Cricket Association. This change could boost Tripura’s performance in the elite domestic division. (Updated 27 Aug 2025, 10:31 IST; source: link)
