Delhi High Court Rejects Stay on Trial Against Gautam Gambhir
Saralnama

The Delhi High Court refused to stop trial court proceedings against former cricketer and coach Gautam Gambhir on 26 Aug 2025. Gambhir and his foundation face allegations of illegally distributing COVID-19 medicines during the pandemic. The court did not accept Gambhir's plea to quash the FIR. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna said that name-dropping Gambhir’s credentials would not influence the court. The complaint was filed by the Drug Control Department under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Gambhir’s family members and foundation CEO are also accused. The trial court hearing is scheduled for 8 Sep 2025. Gambhir had donated oxygen cylinders and medicines during the lockdown. The High Court said granting a stay would stop investigations and hearings, possibly leading to case dismissal. Gambhir continues as India’s cricket head coach for the Asia Cup 2025 campaign.
