At the 2025 US Open in New York on 26 August, Coco Gauff won a tough match against Ajla Tomljanovic. She won 6-4, 6-7, 7-5 to reach the second round. Gauff showed strong fighting spirit in a match lasting nearly three hours. Iga Swiatek also won her first-round match easily in straight sets. Jannik Sinner, the men's top seed, started his title defence with a quick win. The tournament features top players competing for the Grand Slam title.
