On 26 Aug 2025, Umran Malik returned to competitive cricket after 17 months. Playing for Jammu & Kashmir in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, he took two wickets in two balls against Odisha. He first bowled out opener Om Munde and then clean bowled Odisha captain Subhranshu Senapati. Malik missed the last domestic season and IPL 2025 due to injuries. He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹75 lakh but could not play. In this match, he bowled 10 overs and took 2 wickets for 35 runs. His performance helped Jammu & Kashmir bowl out Odisha for 314 runs. Fans shared videos of his aggressive celebration, which went viral.
