New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson said he was surprised when MS Dhoni left a ball in the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand at Old Trafford. Dhoni scored 50 runs and tried to save wickets with Ravindra Jadeja while chasing 240 runs. Ferguson said his plan was to bowl deliveries Dhoni might hit, but Dhoni left the ball instead. Later, Dhoni hit a six off Ferguson’s bowling. India lost the match by 18 runs. Ferguson also praised Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s workload management as a good example for young bowlers. This match was Dhoni’s last ODI game. (Updated 27 Aug 2025, 01:43 IST; source: link)
