The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has proposed a five-year ban for Minhazul Abedin Sabbir. He is accused of match-fixing during the Dhaka Premier League earlier in 2025. Sabbir was involved in suspicious dismissals in a match between Shinepukur Cricket Club and Gulshan Cricket Club. The BCB's Anti-Corruption Unit found that Sabbir contacted overseas bookmakers and did not report their approaches. The ban could extend to eight or ten years. Sabbir must also complete rehabilitation programs if he wants to return to cricket. The BCB plans to strengthen rules to prevent corruption in domestic cricket.
