Saralnama

The Haryana government has handed over the investigation of 19-year-old teacher Manisha's death in Bhiwani to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) following public protests and family demands. Manisha went missing on August 11, 2025, after leaving school to inquire about nursing college admission, and her body was found in a field on August 13 with her throat slit. The police initially suggested suicide by poison, but her family rejected this claim and demanded justice. Protests, including candle marches and social media campaigns, took place across Haryana. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the CBI probe on August 20, 2025. Manisha's body underwent three postmortems, the last at AIIMS Delhi, after which the CBI's investigation began. The case is among several high-profile Haryana cases handed to the CBI, many of which remain unresolved. Internet services were temporarily suspended in Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri during the unrest but later restored. Manisha was a play school teacher, and her death has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice in the state. (Updated 22 Aug 2025, 05:12 IST; source: link)
