2 min read

India's cricket team faced a disappointing 0-2 whitewash in the two-match Test series against South Africa, prompting widespread criticism of players and coaching staff. The defeat significantly damaged India's chances of reaching the World Test Championship final, dropping them to fifth position with a win percentage of 48.15 after four wins and four losses in nine matches. Vice-captain Rishabh Pant, who led the team during the second Test due to Shubman Gill's absence, struggled with the bat, scoring only 49 runs across four innings at an average of 12.25. Shortly after the series concluded, Pant issued a public apology to fans, acknowledging the team's poor performance. He emphasized the importance of learning from mistakes and promised the team would regroup and return stronger. Pant will now turn his attention to the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa, beginning in Ranchi on November 30.

Pant's Apology and Promise to Fans

Less than a day after the second Test defeat, Rishabh Pant shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing regret over the team's underperformance. He admitted the team did not play good enough cricket over the two weeks and apologized for failing to meet expectations. Pant highlighted that representing India remains the greatest honour for all players and thanked supporters for their unwavering loyalty. He assured fans that the team would learn, adapt, and grow from this experience, promising to work hard, regroup, and return stronger. The Delhi cricketer acknowledged that sport teaches valuable lessons about resilience. He will now focus on the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa, with the first match scheduled for Sunday, November 30, in Ranchi.
