Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel has clarified that he does not view his relationship with senior keeper Rishabh Pant as a competition. Instead, both players are focused on contributing to India's success in Test cricket. Jurel recently impressed with strong performances during India's Test series win over the West Indies, including scoring his maiden Test century in Ahmedabad. With Pant returning from a right-foot fracture for the upcoming series against South Africa, the team management is considering fielding both wicketkeepers together. Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has confirmed Jurel's inclusion in the playing eleven for the series opener on November 14 in Kolkata, despite Pant being the primary keeper. Jurel expressed excitement about facing the reigning World Test Championship winners and confidence in his ability to contribute to the team's cause.

Jurel emphasized that there is no rivalry between him and Pant, stating that both players share the same objective of helping India win. The youngster explained that whether he plays, Pant plays, or they feature together, the only priority is the team's success. Jurel also reflected on the special moment of making his Test debut against England in February 2024, describing it as a childhood dream fulfilled. He called receiving his first Test cap a surreal experience that felt like being on cloud seven.
