India announce U19 A and B squads for tri-series, no place for Vaibhav-latest

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has named two separate squads for an upcoming Under-19 tri-series involving Afghanistan. The tournament runs from November 17 to 30 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. India A, India B, and Afghanistan U19 will compete in a double round-robin format, with each team playing two matches against the others. The top two teams will contest the final on November 30. Notable absences include Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Mhatre is unavailable as he is playing Ranji Trophy for Maharashtra, while Suryavanshi has been selected for the India A squad in the ACC Rising Stars Asia Cup. Vihaan Malhotra from Punjab will captain India U19 A, with Abhigyan Kundu as vice-captain. Aaron George from Hyderabad leads India U19 B, supported by Vedant Trivedi from Gujarat as deputy. The tournament features promising young talent from various state associations across India.

Squad Details and Leadership Appointments

Vihaan Malhotra from Punjab Cricket Association will lead India U19 A after impressing with 277 runs against England U19 earlier this year across two Youth Tests. Abhigyan Kundu has been named vice-captain and wicketkeeper. The squad includes players like Wafi Kachchhi, Anmoljeet Singh, and Henil Patel from different state associations. Aaron George from Hyderabad will captain India U19 B, with Gujarat's Vedant Trivedi serving as his deputy. The B squad features Anvay Dravid, son of Rahul Dravid, as one of the wicketkeepers. Other players in the B team include Yuvraj Gohil and Maulyarajsinh Chavda. Both squads represent a mix of talent from various cricket associations including Punjab, Gujarat, Hyderabad, and Tamil Nadu.
