WATCH-Rohit Sharma trains at BKC Ground in Mumbai ahead of South Africa ODI

2 min read

India captain Rohit Sharma was spotted training at the BKC Ground in Mumbai on November 8, 2025, as he prepares for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa. The series is scheduled to begin on November 30 in Ranchi and marks India's next international engagement after their Australia tour. Rohit, who now plays only the ODI format, spent around 30 minutes doing sprints and conditioning exercises but did not bat in the nets. He was seen interacting with Mumbai Ranji Trophy players during their match against Himachal Pradesh. The 37-year-old last played ODIs against Australia, where he scored 202 runs in three innings, including a century at Sydney, and earned the Player of the Series Award. He aims to continue in ODIs until the 2027 World Cup.

Training Session and Future Plans

At the BKC Ground, Rohit engaged in light drills and warm-up routines for approximately 30 minutes. He chatted with former Mumbai teammates, including bowling coach Dhawal Kulkarni and Atul Ranade, while observing net sessions. Rohit last represented Mumbai in domestic cricket at this venue during a Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir earlier this year. Meanwhile, former Australian captain Steve Waugh commented that players like Rohit and Virat Kohli should take responsibility and understand that the game is bigger than any individual. Waugh urged them to be mindful of their future, despite their strong performances during the recent Australia tour.
