Two Indian women cricketers received a hero's welcome in Mohali on November 7, five days after India lifted the World Cup trophy in Navi Mumbai. All-rounder Amanjot Kaur and top-order batter Harleen Deol arrived at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport to scenes of jubilation featuring dhol beats, dancing relatives, and emotional family members. By 8 AM, the airport was already crowded with supporters, including young niece Parnaaz Kaur clutching the national flag while waiting for her aunt Amanjot. Harleen's family had spent the night decorating a tractor and SUV with posters of the Indian team. Coaches, including Nagesh Gupta who first spotted Amanjot's talent, and Dronacharya awardee Jiwantjot Singh Teja joined the celebrations. Despite a brief delay due to air traffic control issues in Delhi, the crowd's enthusiasm remained high throughout the homecoming festivities.

Emotional Homecoming Celebrations Across Mohali
Open-top SUVs carried the cricketers through Mohali as crowds gathered along the route. Even traffic personnel stopped to film the celebration. At Harleen's residence in Sector 80, neighbours had waited for hours. Harleen credited Amanjot's spectacular catch of Laura Wolvaardt as the turning point in the World Cup final. She also mentioned her widely circulated conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Amanjot visited the hospital to see her grandmother before heading home. Both players emphasized gratitude toward their coaches and families. Amanjot remarked the medal belonged equally to her coach, while Harleen expressed feeling overwhelmed returning home with the World Cup medal. Local park catering staff even paused work to take selfies with the champions.
