2 min read

The UP Warriorz have revealed their retention decisions for the 2026 Women's Premier League season, announcing their list on November 6, 2025. The franchise has chosen to retain only one player ahead of the mega auction scheduled for November 27 in Delhi. Uncapped middle-order batter Shweta Sehrawat is the sole player retained by the team. Each franchise was permitted to retain up to five players, including a maximum of three capped Indian players and two overseas players. The retention rules also require at least one uncapped Indian player if a team retains five players. With a total purse of INR 15 crore allocated to each team, UP Warriorz will enter the auction with INR 14.5 crore available. The franchise also holds four Right to Match options to potentially reacquire former players during the auction process.

Shweta Sehrawat Lone Retention for UP Warriorz

UP Warriorz have retained only Shweta Sehrawat from their previous squad, the uncapped middle-order batter who has been with the franchise for three seasons. She has scored 261 runs in 20 innings at a strike rate of 103.98. The retention cost of INR 50 lakh leaves the team with a substantial INR 14.5 crore purse for the upcoming mega auction. The franchise holds four Right to Match options, allowing them to bid for former players if other teams show interest. UP Warriorz have never qualified for the playoffs in WPL history and will look to strengthen their squad significantly through the auction to improve their chances of playoff qualification or even a title challenge.
