Delhi Capitals announced their retention list on November 5, ahead of the Women's Premier League 2026 mega auction scheduled for November 27 in New Delhi. The franchise retained five players, including two overseas cricketers. India's World Cup-winning duo Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma top the list at INR 3.5 crore and INR 2.5 crore respectively. South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp was retained as the first overseas player for INR 1.75 crore, while Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland secured the second overseas slot at INR 1 crore. India's Under-19 T20 World Cup-winning captain Niki Prasad was retained as the mandatory uncapped player for INR 50 lakh. In a major development, former Australian captain Meg Lanning, who led Delhi to three consecutive finals and is the franchise's leading run-scorer with 952 runs, was not retained. The team has INR 6.25 crore remaining in their purse for the auction.

Complete Retention Details and Notable Omission

The franchise retained all three players who have represented them across all seasons. Jemimah Rodrigues commands the highest price tag among retentions. Annabel Sutherland, who joined from Gujarat Giants after the inaugural season, saw her salary reduced from INR 2 crore to INR 1 crore, saving the franchise funds. Following mega auction regulations requiring at least one uncapped Indian player, Delhi selected Niki Prasad for the minimum retention amount. Despite finishing as table-toppers in all three WPL seasons, Delhi have been runners-up thrice, losing finals to Mumbai Indians twice and Royal Challengers Bengaluru once. Meg Lanning's exclusion marks a significant shift, as she captained the side to three finals and accumulated 952 runs at a strike rate of 127.10 across 27 matches.
