Women’s World Cup 2025-Maharashtra government to award INR 2.25 crore prize

The Maharashtra government announced cash rewards for three state players who were part of India's squad that won the Women's World Cup 2025. Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Radha Yadav will each receive INR 2.25 crore. Head coach Amol Muzumdar from Mumbai will get INR 22.5 lakh. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed the Cabinet's decision and stated the entire women's cricket team will be felicitated during their Mumbai visit. India secured their first ICC title by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final on November 2 at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The prize money follows Maharashtra's sports policy, which awards INR 2.25 crore to World Cup gold medallists and INR 22.5 lakh to coaches. Different amounts apply for Olympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games achievements.

Prize Structure and Government Sports Policy

Maharashtra's sports policy specifies different prize amounts based on competition level. Players winning gold medals in World Cups, World Championships or Para World Championships receive INR 2.25 crore each, while coaches get INR 22.5 lakh. Olympic or Paralympic gold medallists earn higher rewards of INR 3.75 crore for players and INR 37.5 lakh for coaches. Athletes securing gold at Asian Games or Commonwealth Games receive INR 75 lakh each. Chess Olympiad champions are awarded INR 1 crore. Among the three Maharashtra players, Radha participated in three matches including the semi-final and final, while Smriti played nine games and Jemimah featured in eight matches during the tournament.
