Lucknow Super Giants are preparing to appoint former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody as their Global Director of Cricket. The 60-year-old will oversee cricket operations across the franchise's multiple teams, including LSG in the IPL, Durban's Super Giants in SA20, and their Manchester-based side in The Hundred. Moody brings over two decades of coaching experience at international and franchise levels. He recently guided the Oval Invincibles to their third consecutive Hundred title and led Desert Vipers to runner-up finishes in the ILT20 during 2023 and 2025. Both Surrey and Reliance Industries Limited, which owns a 49% stake in the Oval Invincibles, wanted to retain him. However, Moody accepted LSG's offer for the broader role it provides. He will work with head coach Justin Langer and Strategic Advisor Kane Williamson. The RP Sanjiv Goenka Group-owned franchise has not officially announced the appointment yet.

Return to IPL After Three Years
This appointment marks Moody's return to the IPL after departing Sunrisers Hyderabad following the 2022 season. He had two successful stints with SRH, first from 2013 to 2019, during which the team won the 2016 IPL title. He returned in 2021 as Director of Cricket and was promoted to Head Coach in 2022 after Trevor Bayliss left. At LSG, Moody replaces Zaheer Khan, who served as Global Director of Cricket for the 2024 IPL season. Despite a two-year contract, Zaheer parted ways with the franchise in September 2024 after just one season. LSG made playoffs in 2022 and 2023 but finished seventh in 2025 with only six wins.
